What's Up in Room 12

Over the past few weeks we have been working on mental math strategies. Students should be learning doubles to 12 by memory. An example is 7+7=14. Remember- No Fingers!
In P.A.W.S. we have been learning about owls. The Gr.2 students have been doing a little extra work with the Owls during Science and Language Art time.(Gr. 1's and 2's work together during P.A.W.S.)
Once again we are back doing our Daily Five. This involves writing, reading orally and silently and word work. The students take a more active role in their learning by choosing when they do certain tasks.

Our swimming lessons appear to have brought with them the coldest weather of the season. Please remember to send your child's swimming items on the following dates- Jan.23, 25,30 and Feb.1st. We have had a number of students who have had to make calls home. Thank you for your support.

THE MYSTERY PENCIL SNATCHER!!- We appear to have someone "stealing" all our pencils. The many clues left behind seem to point to someone who likes to pick them up off the floor, off of students tables and lockers or inside other strange places in our class. We will continue to work on being "responsible citizens" and "tricking" this thief by placing our pencils in our pencil boxes.
